A compact, low-growing bulb that produces large, striking mauve flowers close to the ground. Endemic to the Western Cape of South Africa, this hardy species is well suited to indigenous and waterwise gardens.

A member of the Iridaceae family, it grows up to 25 cm tall and is both drought and frost resistant once established.
